Donations Help OAEC Improve Underground School Training Yard

CBM is proud to announce our participation in the 2019 Underground School at the Oklahoma Association of Electric Co-ops in Oklahoma City, OK. To kick things off, Marshal Bird, of Megger, provided a cable and fault locating presentation to the class. We were next joined by George Hydock, of Elastimold (ABB Installation Products), to teach on underground distribution and discuss underground cable accessory application.  In addition to the classroom presentations, the linemen in attendance received a full day and a half of hands on training in the newly updated OAEC underground training yard.

The OAEC Underground School is part of the training programming provided by the Safety and Loss Control department of the OAEC, Oklahoma Association of Electric Co-ops, a non-profit, statewide service association created and voluntarily supported by local electric distribution and generation/transmission cooperatives.

OAEC is committed to providing the best training experience possible for their member co-ops and have devoted time and efforts to improving their underground training yard. This was made possible by the donation of material from some great manufacturers represented by CBM. Elastimold (ABB Installation Products) donated loadbreak elbows, terminators, and cable splices.  Nordic Fiberglass donated sectionalizing cabinets and secondary pedestals for classroom demonstrations.  In addition to the material donations, Marshal Bird, Megger, and Will Tucker, CBM, lead an underground fault locating workstation during the hands-on portion of the school. This was a great experience for the lineman in attendance as well as for Marshal and Will to continue professional development in a new way.

CBM is happy to continue supporting ongoing efforts at OAEC Safety and Loss Control Trainings and are excited to assist in their continuing improvements and investments.
