Siemens in Jackson, MS, produced the first 123 kV, 40 kA, 3000 A dead tank breaker back in 2021, and they are now on their way to building the first single break 145 kV, 40 kA, 3150 A clean air breaker. Siemens is looking to deliver the 145 kV breaker in the fall of 2022. Their Blue Circuit Breaker line now consists of 72, 123, and 145 kV breakers.
The Blue Circuit breakers utilize Siemens vacuum bottles which have been proven and tested to operate up to -60 C. The bottles are hermetically sealed and maintenance-free. Customers moving to clean air breakers eliminate the requirements related to SF6 reporting and their dangers—the clean air technology results in Zero Global Warming Potential and Ozone Depletion Potential.
Advantages of Clean Air Breakers Include:
-No Gas monitoring/reporting/leakage penalties
-No SF6 gas cart is required for installation
-No inspection or maintenance for up to 30 years
